A precision electrical measuring instrument designed to measure alternating current, with a scale ranging to approximately 400 amperes when used with an external current transformer (C.T. ratio marked 400/5). The meter features a moving-coil mechanism with rectifier and is housed in a wooden carrying case for field or laboratory use. Instruments like this were used by electrical engineers for testing generators, transformers, and power distribution systems. Early–mid 20th century, c.1930s–1950s.
