Simplex portable voltmeter. A large analogue electrical measuring instrument designed for reading voltage in laboratory and electrical testing environments. The instrument features a wide volt scale up to approximately 120 volts and is housed in a protective wooden case with terminal posts for circuit connection. Instruments of this type were used by electricians and engineers for testing electrical systems, generators, and power installations. Early 20th century, c.1910s–1930s.
