Portable electronic test instrument manufactured by Advance, housed in a metal case with hinged lid and carrying handles. The front panel includes an analog meter, rotary selector controls, output voltage adjustment, multiplier settings and connection points for power and signal leads.
The robust portable design indicates use by field engineers and workshop technicians for maintenance and diagnostic work. Advance was a British manufacturer of professional electronic test equipment widely used in laboratories and service departments. Made prior to digital electronic testing systems, 1950s-1960s.
